2006 Summer Research Program begins

The Department of Biomedical Sciences student Summer Research Program (SRP) began today. We took a break from a busy first morning to take a few pictures of our lab team. This was the best shot and I have messed it up by making a face.

In the front row, from left to right, are Michelle Gunther (SRP student), Rita Patel and Betsy Abroe (lab manager & research technician, both), and myself. Behind us, from left to right, are Kelly Servais, Erin Ruedinger, Chad Garven, and Sergey Gurevish (SRP students) and Andrew Mazulis (Student Research Assistant).

Welcome to our new lab member, Betsy

Ms. Betsy Abroe joined the lab this month as our incoming Lab Manager. Betsy recently completed her masters degree in Biology at the University of Wisconsin. Her thesis involved field ornithology and benchwork to determine population characteristics in nestling birds based on genetic markers. Welcome Betsy!

Congratulations Emily and Marianne!

Congratulations to both of our BISC 195 students from spring semester, Marianne Junck and Emily Essman. They both completed journal format report and a 10-minute presentation of their respective research projects for the Student Research Symposium.

Later that day, the Cannon lab celebrated a successful semester together with ice cream at the Annex. Many thanks to Marianne and Emily for all of their hard work this spring!
